Vinos del Viento is a boutique winery by winemaker Michael Cooper. Originally from Santa Barbara, California, Cooper has spent the last ten years in Spain perfecting his craft and searching out old vines at high altitudes to make the best wines from the native grapes of Aragón, Spain.
Michael earned the nickname as "Vine Hunter" due to his relentless pursuit of high-altitude, old-vine, and dry-farmed vineyards. These exceptional vineyards, with their distinct microclimates and century-old indigenous clone strands, give birth to some of the most unique wines worldwide.
Vinos del Viento places utmost importance on sustainability under Michael's guidance. He maintains a keen awareness of the significance of preserving soil biodiversity and practicing responsible water usage. To achieve these goals, we implement dry-farming techniques, avoid the use of pesticides, and opt for locally sourced lightweight bottles crafted from recycled materials.
The Vinos Del Viento wines are an honest reflexion of the terroir and the grapes Garnacha, Garnacha Blanca and Carignan. All of the vineyards are dry-farmed and hand harvested, paying special attention to only the best bunches of grapes to make the best wines imaginable. In the winery, it is minimal intervention, the wines ferment spontaneously from active yeasts and are not manipulated in any way shape or form. Time and care are the only additives to the wine
