A project led by Bodegas Toro Albala, their first release was in 2021. This project is done in collaboration with local winemakers & winegrowers in Bierzo.
“Imalia" or "La imalia" is an old Leonese word that means "everything" or "a lot". Toro Albala chose this name for their wines because they wanted it to convey the spirit of the place and tradition, while at the same time telling the story of what brought them to El Bierzo.
Imalia is a word that has stood the test of time through generations and throughout history, remaining strong and tenacious, expressing since medieval times that "Something is great".
For Toro Albala, winemaking in El Bierzo was something very big. A challenge that they started with great motivation, but accepting the risk of leaving their comfort zone of Montilla-Moriles to walk a newpath. Venturing into an unknown place, with determination and perseverance, just like Imalia,to create great wines.
