Vinos del Viento is a boutique winery by winemaker Michael Cooper. Originally from Santa Barbara, California, Cooper has spent the last ten years in Spain perfecting his craft and searching out old vines at high altitudes to make the best wines from the native grapes of Aragón, Spain.
Michael earned the nickname as "Vine Hunter" due to his relentless pursuit of high-altitude, old-vine, and dry-farmed vineyards. These exceptional vineyards, with their distinct microclimates and century-old indigenous clone strands, give birth to some of the most unique wines worldwide.
It is precisely in Campo de Borja where he is developing his project Los Ángeles, a name that comes from the genesis of the city where he went to university and 2 close grape grower friends of his named Ángel and that he feels blessed to have the opportunity to grow wines.
Currently his vineyards are in organic conversion and are cared for with biodynamic preparations. All the wines of the Los Angeles line follow the guidelines of “Vins Méthode Nature” (which is the new French certification for natural wine.
Michael's creations are special as they reflect the delicate aromas and flavors of the unique terroirs (with their mesoclimates, soils, varieties, grapes and indigenous yeasts), without interpositions and with a minimalist intervention that obeys his motto: “clean, pure, energetic”.
